Moldova 1 in cooperation with German TV "Deutsche Welle", are making a documentary about the former German colonies in Bessarabia and destiny of the Germans who lived in Moldova until 1940. The initiative is supported by the German Embassy in Chisinau. The scene is the village Marienfeld of Cimişlia district, in the Southern Moldova, according Mesager. Translated from German, Marienfeld means Mary's Fields. The locality, founded in 1911 by several German families, was one of the most prosperous in the region. Moldova 1 producers say it wants to show Bessarabian German history with the history of this village. The film is directed by Irene Langemann, known in Germany and in several countries. She holds grand prix at several international competitions. "Although it is not a historical film, we try to go after Bessarabian Germans, relying on emotions, we shall film several places in the village which relate to the film's heroes," said Irene Langemann. One of the protagonists is Artur Scheibe, the son of a Bessarabian German. His father lived in Marienfeld and wrote memoirs about the village and about the fate of the Germans who lived here. In the film Arthur will serve as a storyteller of his father's memories. "I was conceived in Moldova and it is very important to visit my parents' homeland, I have been several times in Marienfeld and even built a monument to the Germans who lived here," said Artur Scheibe. Marienfeld hides many reminiscent places of its founders - Bessarabian Germans. Although no German is living here, the current villagers know well the history of the village. http://trm.md/en/moldova1/moldova-1-i...
