Paralysis is loss of movement or the sensation of one part of the body or one side of the body. This may include any part of the body like face, upper limb, both the legs or one side of the body this depends on the sight of the problem present in the brain as well as in the spinal cord or the peripheral nerve. If there is weakness in left part of the body then we should suspect the problem in right part of the brain. Any insult or pathologist in the brain, brainstem, spinal cord, peripheral nerve and the muscles leads to paralysis of the particular part of the body. The main causes are stroke, brain tumor, neuro infections like tuberculosis, cysticercus, multiple sclerosis, head injuries, spinal cord injuries, peripheral nerve injuries. Sometimes multiple sclerosis also leads to the weakness of the body parts. Paralysis is loss of movement or the sensation of one part of the body or one side of the body. Some symptoms of the paralysis includes the underlying cause which is responsible for the paralysis and part of the body involved. It may present with weakness of face, legs, hands, all four limbs or one side of body it is called hemiplegia. Paralysis is weakness or loss of sensation of particular part of body or one side of the body, it can be classified in different ways mainly by parts of the body involved. Paralysis may involve face, legs, upper limb, arm, both legs, all four limbs ,eyes, one side of the body. Monoplegia where one limb is involved, hemiplegia where two limbs or one side of the body is involved, face and the upper limb is involved it is called faciobrachial paralysis, if both the lower limbs are involved it called as paraplegia, if all the 4 limbs are involved we call it as quadriplegia.
