Hiking a Wasatch Range Classic | Mount Timpanogos

Just a short drive outside of Salt Lake City, UT - you will find the Timpooneke Trail which can be taken 14.2 miles round trip to the summit of Mount Timpanogos. This trail is heavily trafficked and this is one of the most popular summit hikes in all of Utah due to its proximity to major population areas in the state and the lack of technical skills required to reach the summit. But the lack of technical requirements does not mean this is an easy summit to reach. The approach is long, exposed, and does not have many areas to filter water - which you'll need a lot of on this hike , especially if you go in the summer. While it's not the highest summit in Utah (or even in the Wasatch range), you will end up at just over 11,700' - so altitude sickness is also a possibility for anyone who is coming from lower elevations. The views along this trail make it absolutely worth the effort - I did my best to capture the experience that is this hike in this video.
