In this seated guard series, I focus on how to attack a standing opponent with combinations of foot sweeps and single leg x entries (Irimi Ashi Garami). In this video, I go over some critical details on the shin-to-shin position. This position is an important gateway to get from the seated position into the legs against skilled guard passers. I have used this position for almost 8 years, but have recently made some changes to how I play it, because of guillotine and underhook counter-attacks. The main things I've changed: 1. Taking a shallow calf grip instead of gripping high on the knee. 2. Closing the distance with grips on the hands instead of grabbing the leg directly. 3. being aware of head position when your opponent drops to a knee, and avoid getting guillotined.
