Various of game 4. Set up of Georgetown Hoyas coach, John Thompson 5. SOUNDBITE (English) John Thompson, coach, Hoyas basketball team from Georgetown University: "You know, the way the game ended the other day is not how anyone would have anticipated... liked. Very few people have ever seen anything like that. But at the same time you move on, you grow, you meet the next day, you realise that... you know... there aren''t that many differences between us. And I said this a lot of times, we hope that this happens, that out of that conflict, a bond is formed, out of that conflict, a oneness and a unity can be established between Georgetown University and that organisation." 6. Wide of game 7. SOUNDBITE (English) John Thompson, coach, Hoyas basketball team from Georgetown University: "We were staying in the same hotel that night as the (US) vice president, and so, you know, following that match, following the game, you know, there was communication with his staff that night, yes. And if you are going to ask me, ''what did he say?'', I''m going to say, ''I''m not talking about it''." 8. Various of game 9. Mid of audience 10. SOUNDBITE (English) Vox pop, Robert, American living in China: "At the end of the day, that''s a small delegation. Duke (university team) was also here playing in Shanghai at the same time, there were no issues, the game went off without a hitch. As an American, I''m one of thousands living in China. So as a representative of the States, maybe Georgetown... the altercation with Georgetown is not a strong representation of what goes on between China-U.S. relations." 11. Wide of game 12. SOUNDBITE (English) Vox pop, Catherine Liu, Spectator at basketball game: "In the end I think they make up and then it''s very good. I mean, at least then they have another game right now." 13. Players shaking hands at end of game 14. Mid of scoreboard reading 69:92 to the Georgetown Hoyas STORYLINE: A basketball team from the US beat a Chinese team at a friendly match in Shanghai on Sunday, days after the team was involved in a brawl with another Chinese team. Georgetown University''s men''s basketball team, the Hoyas, won the match against Chinese Basketball Association''s Liaoning Dinosaurs. Four days earlier, the Hoyas were involved in a brawl with Bayi Rockets during an exhibition match in Beijing on Thursday. Players threw punches and chairs in the fracas, which broke out after one of the Hoyas players was fouled. The match was abandoned. Thursday''s encounter came on the second day of a highly publicised visit to China by the U.S. vice president Joe Biden. Biden''s message of mutual interdependence of both countries in economic and global responsibilities was overshadowed by the brawl. Coach of the Georgetown Hoyas, John Thompson, said the fight was not something he expected to see. "We were staying in the same hotel that night as the (US) vice president, and so, you know, following that match, following the game, you know, there was communication with his staff that night, yes. And if you are going to ask me, ''what did he say?'', I''m going to say, ''I''m not talking about it''," he said. Thompson said staff from Biden''s entourage contacted them after the brawl in a Beijing hotel where both Biden''s delegation and the college team were staying. He declined to reveal what the content of the conversation was.
