RC PLANE CARBON FIBER WING BUILD. Episode 23

In this video I work on detachable portion of the main wing which will get covered mainly with carbon fiber. Before that, I need to prepare the Styrofoam core. The foam was cut before with hot wire technique which is a very powerful and satisfying process. I add some ribs in critical sections of the assembly, for example at the aileron and flap hinge points and servo pockets/bays. The method that I'm using to build this wing is not optimal; Foam core covered with carbon fiber or fiber glass is not the lightest option. In order to achieve best weight to strength combination, I should be makings the skins from the mold and supporting them with ribs but before I commit to make the mold, I need to know that my design performs well. If I decide to make a model with mold, I can easily make multiple planes in relatively short time. But I'm sure, that I'm not ready for that yet. One of the next builds will be probably some sort of amphibious plane. Flying on the water must be really cool. Also, worth to mention is the fact, that this build will be equipped with DC generator so I never have to worry about the battery during long flight sessions. This plane has a 3L fuel tank and 80 cc Zenoah engine, I wonder how long that will last in the air. Total weight of the plane will be something around 35 lbs, just the wing itself will be around 2.5 kg. The area of the wing isn't that big so the wing loading will be up there ( high takeoff and landing speeds) Good thing that I will have some flaps, that should help a bit; O. THANKS FOR WATCHING!
