MIKEY D & THE LA POSSE - BUST A RHYME, MIKE (1987) Michael Deering, better known as Mikey D, is an acclaimed battle rapper hailing from Queens, New York. During the vibrant 1980s hip-hop era, Mikey D's exceptional lyrical skills, captivating charm, and dedicated following propelled him to stardom. He solidified his reputation by triumphing at the renowned 1988 New Music Seminar Battle For World Supremacy. Having left an indelible mark on the Queens rap scene, Mikey D currently serves as the Founder and CEO of Pass The Torch Distribution, a venture powered by Who?Mag Multimedia. Alongside managing his business, Mikey D continues to visit the recording studio, where he pens fiery verses for emerging rap talents. Recently, he released his highly anticipated EP, "Talkin That Shhhh!" on September 11, courtesy of Pass The Torch Distribution. The EP's lead single, titled the same as the album, has already garnered over six thousand streams on Spotify. In the early 1980s, Mikey D collaborated with legendary producers Paul C Mckasty and DJ Johnnie Quest. Notably, he was also the lead rapper for Mikey D and The L.A. Posse, and together they released several noteworthy records such as "My Telephone," "Dawn," "Bust A Rhyme Mike," "I Get Rough," and "Go For It." When Large Professor ventured into a solo career, Mikey D seized the opportunity and assumed the role of lead rapper for Main Source in 1993. The group embarked on recording their second album, "F*ck What You Think," a follow-up to their debut record, "Breaking Atoms," under Wild Pitch Records in 1994. The album featured the debut performance of The LOX, previously known as The Warlocks. One of the album's standout tracks, "What You Need," achieved significant success, even earning a spot on the esteemed music-dance television program, Soul Train. Notably, Madonna sampled this track for her 1994 smash hit "Human Nature" from the album "Bedtime Stories," which earned a triple platinum certification from RIAA. However, Mikey D's journey had its fair share of ups and downs. Due to conflicts between management and their record label, a planned project was abruptly halted, leaving Mikey D disheartened. Despite this setback, the seasoned rapper never relinquished his passion for hip-hop. Taking a step back from the limelight, he devoted time to his family and personal growth, continuously refining his artistic skills and perfecting his craft.
