A British veteran of the Korean War had an emotional day in Seoul on Tuesday. Mr. Speakman was awarded the VC， the highest military decoration bestowed by the United Kingdom for his bravery in a battle against the Chinese military on South Korean soil in 1951. The 87－year－old， who′s currently on a visit， said... donating the medals for display in South Korea was the sensible thing to do. He added that he wants his ashes to be scattered over the demilitarized zone. ″I can′t really express myself any further because you don′t really know how I feel about this but my ashes will be here.″ Mr. Speakman said he was proud of how Korea recovered from the war and became the economic powerhouse it is today. He also said he wanted Korea′s future generations to see what the war was all about. More than one thousand British military personnel lost their lives during the Korean War.
