Kick-Ass 2 director Jeff Wadlow reveals how Kick-Ass 2 production begins September 2012. It concentrates on Dave, the Kick-Ass character, and Chris, Red Mist, becomes a supervillain, changing his name to The Motherfucker, and Mindy, Hit-Girl, gives up being a hit girl and the movie explores what it's like being an ordinary kid after being a superhero. Jeff Wadlow was a surprise guest at Kapow! Comic Convention after Mark Millar invited him to come and talk on the Directors' Panel with Gareth Edwards (Monsters) and Nacho Vigalondo (Timecrimes). The panel discussed what it takes to be an amazing director in Hollywood and Jeff tells us how amazing it is to work with Kick Ass director Matthew Vaughn. Kick-Ass 2 production begins in September and will be very much a sequel to the first movie, but also an adaptation of Mark Millar's comics. Jeff Wadlow loves how the first movie was so emotional and honest, pushing the boundaries of the superhero genre which he aims to repeat in the second movie. Jeff Wadlow wrote the script and worked closely with Mark Millar and Matthew Vaughn asking lots of questions during the process. Jeff aimed to find an intersection where he creates a sequel which is also an honest interpretation of the books, and took six weeks to come up with the script and then a further two weeks with Matthew. Jeff explains how he's benefited from Kick Ass screenwriter Jane Goldman and Matthew Vaughn's screenplay talent, and how Matthew is very involved in Kick Ass 2 as a producer and Jeff spends many hours a day talking with him. Jeff Wadlow has just moved to London for a year as the movie will be shot and post-produced in the UK. Jeff sees Kick-Ass 2 as a British film with an American story, featuring American superheros with a British sensibility.
