The case of a Ukrainian man arrested in Italy in connection with the Nord Stream attack has taken a new turn. The man's lawyer, Nicola Canestrini, presented several arguments against his client's extradition to Germany during an appeal court hearing. Canestrini highlighted the 'heavy detention conditions in Germany' and the lack of access to his client's case files, despite repeated requests. He also emphasized the political and military nature of the alleged crimes, which he claims are part of operations linked to an international armed conflict. The 49-year-old Ukrainian, Serhij K., was arrested in August while vacationing with his family near Rimini. He denies any involvement in the attack and claims to have been in Ukraine at the time. German prosecutors believe Serhij K. and his associates used a yacht that departed from Rostock, rented with fake IDs and the help of intermediaries. Divers allegedly attached at least four explosive charges to the Nord Stream gas pipeline, before being picked up and driven to Ukraine.
