"Peaks and Shrieks" (Insane Demon) by Loltad | Geometry Dash 2.2

Loltad was probably one of my personal favorite creators of 2.1, especially in terms of more traditional design style. Levels such as "Worse Trip", "Auroral Bloom", and "RASH" still look amazing, and you should check them out if you haven't seen them. With this in mind, I was particularly excited when I heard that his first 2.2 level had released. It continues in a similar vein to his previous works visually in that it has unique and perhaps wacky theming. In this, that's mostly due to some simple art, or at least default blocks put together for art, both in the block designs and decorations. I really like how Loltad makes 2.0 blocks like the grass and rock ones look this good with some changes. The wacky part I mentioned was mostly referring to the 2.0 monsters, and even some custom ones, but they work really nicely here. It gives the level a lot of personality while also making it stand out from the levels you typically see, especially compared to other 2.2 works. While the level definitely reminds me of Loltad's 2.1 works in its unique identity, and also incorporates 2.0 stuff well, there's good usage of 2.2 features here too. They're not used too much, but there are subtle usages like small camera changes for scale and transitions (see 0:48), minor shader usage for intensity, and some particles for more dynamic visuals. 2.2 features are also used for the gameplay in several parts. People have always found Loltad's gameplay enjoyable, and from what I've heard, this is no different. It'll likely be an Insane Demon once rated. I hope it may get a Legendary rating, but I guess we'll have to see when RobTop gets to it. Finally, special thanks to Hypno and TwisterDude161 for asking me to upload this and providing the footage.
