This is the best time to kill clover and you don't even need to use chemicals! I use concentrated FeHEDTA that I spray on my young weeds and many of them die very fast and none of the dangerous chemicals need to be applied to the lawn ever! Dense and widespread mature stands of clover may need chemicals to knock them out efficiently. For that I would recommend a stronger chemical mix unless you wanted to apply FeHEDTA multiple times a few weeks apart for a few months.
