When to Winterize your Grass! Fall Lawn Care

Winterizing your lawn is a great way to ensure a quick spring green-up. For cool-season lawns, this fertilizer application should be done as soil temperatures approach 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Winterizing your lawn is mostly just a marketing term used by fertilizer companies and just about any old bag of fertilizer can be used to achieve this. it does not have to say "winterizer" or winter guard" on it. Simply look for a bag of fertilizer with urea, not coated urea or slow-release nitrogen. it's ok if there is some % slow release but you do not want all of it to be a slow-release. For example, I would not use Milorganite as a winterizer. In this video, I use an excellent product from Yard Mastery called Flagship.
