"CONNECT" (Extreme Demon) by MCres | Geometry Dash 2.11

This is a showcase of an upcoming effect level made entirely by MCres. I don't think I've seen much of their work before this, so I was pleasantly surprised to have a level this as good my first introduction to them. However, before that, I'd like to mention that I did see this level getting some attention on Twitter, and not only good attention. MCres shared their thought process and the theme behind the level, which a lot of people disagreed about and went way too far in expressing. I think the beauty of Geometry Dash—as it is in every art form—is how levels can be interpreted in completely different ways depending on the player (or viewer in this case). We should respect that. Personally, I think it's cool to hear the thought process behind the theme of a level regardless of whether I see it myself or not. As mentioned at the start, this is focused on effects which should be clear from watching. What surprised me is that the level is over 4 minutes long but still manages to keep surprising from part to part, whether it's in specific effects or just the overall presentation. The level is also mostly grayscale, which would usually make me find it boring, but other parts of the visuals are able to keep it interesting regardless. It does become more colorful at the most intense parts, which is good. In terms of difficulty, this will be an Extreme Demon once released as said in the title. I can't say I could imagine playing much of this and finding it enjoyable personally, but that's due to the chaotic nature of it which probably adds a lot to the difficulty. It looks difficult to read on top of the hard timings. This is a consequence of many of the effects. On the other hand, it does make the visuals and gameplay go hand in hand. It'll definitely not be everyone's cup of team gameplay-wise, and probably even visually from some of the responses I've seen. Regardless of all that, though, I have to say that "CONNECT" is a really cool introduction to MCres and I'm excited to see their future works.
