Welcome to I’ll Knit If I want To! I asked y’all to send in some of your questions (from everything from fiber arts, to designing and on!) so I could put together a little video for y’all every Friday doing my best to answer your questions! In this week’s episode we cover: 1. Watching your videos really makes me want to knit, thanks for the weekly motivation! When casting on a sweater that will be worked from the top down, how do you choose the length of your cable? I was in a situation where the pattern called for a 24'' cable length, but then my 120 stitches cast on (Wool yarn, sport weight, needles size US 6) got extremely stretched from the total length of the cable when joining in to knit in the round. Would that be unusual to have to chose a smaller length for the cable when casting on and working the first few rounds of the yoke? 2. Can I knit your new shawl in dyed in the wool instead of dream state. I live in Florida and dream state is just a bit too heavy. If so, what modifications should I make? I love it. Thx so much. 3. Your new Inclination shawl is beautiful! It reminds me of the Shift Shawl. How are they different? 4. Many knitted items require blocking, however, if it's a gift for someone who doesn't know about blocking, what would you do? 5. I have made several top down sweaters, and love that I am able to try on as I go and make modifications for a perfect fit. I really want to make a few bottom up patterns that I think are so beautiful, but I’m very intimidated by not being able to try it on, and advice or tips to ensure a great fit for a bottom up sweater, or any encouragement for how to dive into it!?
