By far, the top questions we get about our lifestyle revolve around the money side of things. How do we afford it? How do we make money? What are our future plans? We always like to first emphasize the part where we spend as little as possible. That’s because it’s a REALLY big part of our lifestyle as nomads. And there may be many modern nomads out there these days, but many of them are not living on as puny a budget as we are. And this matters a lot. Because we restrict our spending on any fluffy extras. That is really the answer to how we afford to live the way we do. If we didn’t keep our bills so low, the answer would have to lie somewhere in a story about how much money we make in order to afford driving, restaurants, drinks, park fees, camping fees, souvenirs, tourist adventures, fuel for toys, vehicle upgrades, luxuries, Starbucks coffees, shopping, and a whole list of items that would put us in a completely different situation. So, that’s why we emphasize this point. Because from there, the making money side of things doesn’t have to be magic or luck. We simply work, like others, but we can afford to work less, meaning more time for us to do what we love. Which is really the point of living this way. If I had to cover those aforementioned bills, we’d both have to work like crazy and be nuts about finding new ways to make money. That’s not the life I want to live. That’s why I’m willing to give up luxuries if otherwise enjoy sometimes. But not enough to justify trading my precious time in this precious life. And so, we’ve worked a handful of different part time jobs and full time jobs along the way to make it work. And one day I found a gig that worked more in line with a nomad lifestyle. That is teaching online.
