Around the world, and every day, people are forced to flee their homes – from persecution, violent conflict, or natural disasters. Most remain in developing countries, even if they cross state borders in search of safety or opportunities, and many end up staying for years. To better respond to the needs of those who are displaced, UNHCR aims to link short-term relief assistance with long-term social and economic development.
