Narayaneeyam | 100th Dasakam | Melpathur | Kavalam Srikumar | MUSIC GIVEN & SUNG BY KAVALAM SRIKUMAR AUTHOR: Melpathur Narayana Bhattathiri (Malayalam: 1559–1645) The Narayaneeyam is a devotional Sanskrit work, in the form of a poetical hymn, consisting of 1036 verses (called 'slokas' in Sanskrit). It was written by Bhattathiri in 1586 AD and gives a summary of 18,000 verses of the Bhagavata Purana. This is the dasakam that is the crowning glory of Sri NaarayaNIyam .It deals with the divine darsanam of Lord Krishnan of GuruvAyUr as Sri VaikuntanAthan . In the last dasakam , Sri Bhattadhiri performed SaraNAgathiat the feet of the Lord with the lines : " SarvOthkrushtAm abhIshtAm --chittham haranthIm Moorthim thE samsrayEham ". Sri Bhattadhiri wished to write this sthuthi of Sri GuruvAyurappanwith 1024 slOkams inview of the sacred manthram of Gayathri having 24 aksharams .
