Kadalakkadalas presents - Parayipetta Panthirukulam, Kadalakkadalas : 66, Storyteller: Ani, Title: Mezhathol Agnihothri – 2, Illustration: Ninoj Abraham, Songs Lyrics: Shaila Sreekumar, Music and Vocals: Geetha Ananth, Subtitles : Ani. Story Synopsis: Parayi petta panthirukulam is the folklore about the 12 children of Vararuchi and Panchami. Vararuchi was a brahmin scholar in the court of King Vikramaditya, and Panchami, his wife, was a paraya girl brought up in a brahmin family. All the 12 children were abandoned soon after their birth. They were found and brought up by people from different castes. Most of them lived in villages on the banks of Bharathapuzha. The 12 children were Mezhathol Agnihothri, Paakkanar, Rajakan, Vallon, Naranath Bhranthan, Karakkalamma (Karakkal Matha), Akavur Chaatthan, Paananaar, Vaduthala Nair, Uppukoottan, Perunthachan, and Vayilla kunnilappan. In this video, we bring you a few stories about Mezhathol Agnihothri, who was the first born child of Vararuchi and Panchami. He grew up in Vemancheri mana in Thrithala. A great scholar in Vedas and Shastras, it is believed that he revived the dying vedic culture in Kerala by performing 99 yagas. ----------------------------------------- Sources for stories: Aithihyamala - Kottarathil Sankunni Parayi petta panthirukulam - P Narendranath Parayi petta panthirukulam - KB Sreedevi Panthirukulathinte pingamikal - Dr Rajan Chungath ------------------------------------------- Enjoy these fabulous stories from Kerala lovingly curated by Team Kadalakkadalas.
