Greatness of Trees (மரங்களின் மகத்துவம்) is a Web Series documented to share my 16-year journey with trees. Episode 15: Thillai and Angola (தில்லை, ஏரழிஞ்சில்) Thillai (தில்லை) also called as Amballathi is a type of Excoecaria agallocha, a mangrove species characterized by poisonous nature is believed to have ability to cure even leprosy, I have been searching for this wonderful species for 18 years which is believed to be in the endangered category in Tamil Nadu. Angola (ஏரழிஞ்சில்) - This one belongs to Alangium salviifolium. The wood, fruit, and pollen of Alangium are distinctive. Sri Adhi Shankara has explained the relation between the devotee and Iswara(God) using the characteristic of this tree. It is said that when its fruits fall to the ground, the seeds, liberated from the fruit by some compelling force within, move close to the trunk of the tree, gradually climb up, and get inseparably attached to the tree. Similarly we humans (Jeevatma) perform penance through our life to eventually join the Almighty (Paramatma). An opportunity to talk about these two divine trees and share some interesting anecdotes with it for all my viewers. Hope you all like the video.
