Wraparound Maine is a statewide initiative that supports an integrated planning approach for youth with complex needs. Each Wraparound Maine site serves various agencies that care for children and youth, ages 5-18. These youth are experiencing serious emotional or behavioral disturbance. Usually, they are living in a facility with intensive supervision and services, a temporary residential treatment, a juvenile correctional facility, or they are at risk of being placed in one of these types of facilities. The Process: "Wraparound" is an evidence-based process that relies on a balance of formal and informal supports to help children and families achieve important outcomes. The goal is to help children remain in the home or community whenever possible. The planning of service is accomplished through "wrapping" individual services and natural supports around the child and family, based on their unique strengths and needs.
