Very quite often when I do arrangements of touhou music based around like 70s or 80s music and it has synths and the like, I get people telling me that it sounds like YMO (whether its on here or on the bilibili reuploads lmao). Back when I did my first take on this theme specifically almost 2 years ago, I didn’t even know who YMO was, only having really heard of the group a few times and that’s it. So well, I wanted to do something a little different for this specific arrangement this time and just put it all in a blender and making it very apparent lmao. I feel like I see more people pointing out comparisons instead of actually doing something with it as far as I have seen at least, hence also why I thought it’d be an interesting case for me to make the cover art this time as it is too. I think in general its also just interesting how this song is what inspired ZUN to then build off of it to create Touhou as time went on, the side notes he wrote for the theme are interesting. Also yeah I think this is more of a tecnocumbia type of chicha because of the Moogs and korgs, and other synths I put in here and there for the purposes of the song. Normal chicha music can have synths just not that overwhelmingly so, since the guitar is meant to take higher protagonism. #touhoumusic
