NY 1 News - 'Book Fairies' Visit Corona School to Promote Reading - April 28, 2017

The Book Fairies, a Long Island-based non-profit organization that collects reading for children throughout metropolitan New York, was featured on NY1 News when they recently donated over 2,200 new and “like new” books to students at The Pioneer Academy in Corona, Queens, NY to start their own home libraries. Students also received a handmade bookmark created special needs individuals. For many students, these books will be the first ones they have ever owned. Students in high poverty districts typically attend traditional book fairs with either no money in their pockets or $1 and they cannot afford to purchase a book.
