Highlights of the Quantum-Nano Centre Launch
In September 2012, the state-of-the-art Mike & Ophelia Lazaridis Quantum-Nano Centre officially opened at the University of Waterloo. More than 5,000 guests participated in the grand opening activities, which included a reception and dinner, the official ribbon cutting ceremony, a full-day open house, two innovative concerts and much more. Distinguished visitors included Prof. Stephen Hawking, Mike Lazaridis, Gary Goodyear (Minister of State, Science & Technology), University of Waterloo President Feridun Hamdullahpur and many other academic and political leaders. The Mike & Ophelia Lazaridis Quantum-Nano Centre is a 285,000-square-foot facility devoted to pioneering quantum information and nanotech research.
