Shigaraki Kogen Railway Shigaraki Line Shigaraki to Kibugawa. Shigaraki Kogen Railway SKR500 Series Diesel Car. This is a single-track, third-sector line in Shiga Prefecture. It opened as the JNR Shigaraki Line in 1933, and was taken over by JR West in April 1987 when JNR was privatized. It was converted to a third-sector line in July of the same year. After the train collision accident in 1991, only one train runs on the track, and there are no opposing trains. The line is single-track throughout, and there are many cherry trees along the line, so you can enjoy the cherry blossoms in spring and the autumn leaves in autumn.
