Gathering toys for children in need and checking out vintage rides was the name of the game Saturday night at the annual Christmas in July Cruise In at Spanish Springs Town Square. Residents and car owners alike got into the Christmas spirit by donating cash and gifts that will be distributed by the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office to help brighten the holidays for underprivileged children in the tri-county area. Scooter the DJ, a longtime favorite in Florida’s Friendliest Hometown, entertained the packed square with his trademark antics while playing plenty of great dance music. And The Villages Twirlers Show Team & Drum Corps put on a quite a show early in the evening that had the crowd on its feet applauding. Meanwhile, Villagers and area residents took their time checking out the many classic cars on display. They asked the owners plenty of great questions.
