In this video, I travel to Hide and Squeaks, a specialist wildlife hide experience owned by my good friend, awesome photographer and fellow YouTuber Mike Phelps, for the chance to photograph one of the most extraordinary sights in British wildlife: erythristic badgers. Unlike the classic black-and-white badger we all know, erythristic badgers are an incredibly rare colour variation. Their fur appears a striking mix of red and white, giving them a unique, almost otherworldly look. Seeing one in person is special enough—photographing them up close is a privilege I’ll never forget. Armed with my Nikon Z9 and 400mm f/2.8 lens, I settle into the hide and wait as dusk falls. What follows is an evening filled with quiet anticipation, the rustle of woodland life, and finally the breathtaking moment when these beautiful badgers emerge. Their colours glow softly in the fading light, and every frame feels like a once-in-a-lifetime capture.
