Hanoi Temple of Literature

Văn Miếu literally translated as Temple of Literature in Hanoi, northern Vietnam is dedicated to Confucius . The temple was built in 1070 at the time of Emperor Lý Thánh Tông, and it hosted the Imperial Academy, Vietnam's first national university, from 1076 to 1779. The interior of the site is divided into five courtyards. You will certainly experience and learn a lot of ancient Vietnam (Đại Việt ), the subsequent dynasties, Confucius and his philosophy when you visit this magnificent temple with its may gates in traditional Vietnamese architecture. We spent half a day exploring and learning a lot of Vietnam`s ancient history.
