What happens when we build AI systems optimized for speed and output — but forget to ask what they're actually for? In this fireside chat from the 42 Hours for AI Impact Hackathon, fractional CEO and strategic advisor Christina Imre joins STS CEO Francis Dion for a conversation that's equal parts urgent and necessary. Christina opens with the Titanic — not as a story about steel or bad luck, but as a failure of values. Multiple warnings ignored. The wrong metrics driving decisions. A belief that nothing bad could happen to us. She makes the case that we're at risk of repeating that pattern in code — and that the stakes are considerably higher. The conversation covers why static guardrails always fail, what "silent failures" in AI actually look like in practice, and why the path forward isn't more rigid fences but forensic visibility — real-time awareness of when AI behavior drifts from its baseline, before the damage is done. The deeper thread running through all of it: if we don't deliberately embed human values into what we're building now, we won't get a second chance to add them later. 📺 More from the 42 Hours for AI Impact Hackathon: Day 1 Panel — Coding with AI with TLM Experts: • Coding with AI, a Panel with Senior Softwa...
