Three fights, three wins, three months of wrestling. 0:00 Mission 0:16 Why 1:31 The Wrestling Diaries Part I 3:09 The Wrestling Diaries Part II 4:18 Competition Registration I was always a guard puller. Then I cross-trained wrestling for three months to compliment what I was learning in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. The question of "wresting vs BJJ" is often asked in the martial arts world. In this video I explore how one can help inform the other. I was already aware that cross-training other combat sports, such as wrestling, judo, and MMA, can help us to progress faster in BJJ. When I set myself the task of cross-training wrestling twice a week for 3 months, I got to experience this directly. Here I discuss why I decided to cross-train wrestling instead of judo, which is also a viable and productive option for those that want to improve their BJJ stand-up game, how wrestlers train differently to people who only practise BJJ, and my difficulties in learning takedowns and setups. I also talk about the impact that wrestling had on my fitness levels. In order to test my new fundamentals wrestling skills, I entered a Grappling Industries Brazilian Jiu Jitsu tournament. I set myself one rule: no guard pull. There were four of us within the bracket (Gi Adult Female White Belt 155lbs). All of the competition matches will be posted on my channel with a commentary - I'll discuss the mistakes I made and how cross-training wrestling influenced my approach. *Please note: the "surprise" chapter that I mention in this video is positioned at the end of the final video of the series - after the final match.
