This video is the very first installment of my new series "Temperature Check" and features an in-depth interview with community activist Wilner P. Joseph. Wilner who hails from Stamford, CT, is also a motivational speaker, personal trainer and author. We discuss his upbringing growing up in Stamford with his three siblings as well as him being fortunate enough to avoid prison for a murder. We then discuss his short-lived pursuit of a professional basketball career which ultimately led to him starting YoungAthletes4Change where he utilized his basketball talent to train and mentor young children. Next we talk about the untimely demise of his younger brother who was murdered while leaving a nightclub. This unfortunate tragedy along with losing his nephew in a car accident led to a dark period in time for Wilner where he turned to alcohol to cope with both of these tragic losses. He then discuss how he ultimately stopped drinking alcohol entirely and embarked on a sobriety journey that he maintains today and how he has become much more spiritual. We cap off the interview by discussing the clothing line he started to honor his brother's legacy, upcoming events he is curating as well as the enormous amount of work he continues to do for the community.
