Hi friends! I went down quite a rabbit hole a couple of months ago and made a ton of oil paint sticks. It was fun and they turned out very well but still, I feel the need to post a disclaimer. I had the supplies to make these on hand including old oil paint and oil pastels I wanted to use up. I recommend having a fan going and windows open if you attempt this and be water of fire safety since you are meeting flammable materials. Also, be sure to dispose of oily rags appropriately. OK here's what you need: Pigments (I used oil paint but you can use dry pigments if you want) https://amzn.to/4eKTt5z Wax (I used oil pastels but you can use white beeswax) https://amzn.to/4fJM5sp Drying oil such as linseed oil (not needed if you are using commercial oil paint but you can add it to make a slower-drying, more translucent paint that will have a more durable film) https://amzn.to/3CLZWjz Something to melt them in, I recommend mini disposable loaf pans: https://amzn.to/3Z2zJ7M *They give more room to mix Parchment paper squares: https://amzn.to/4990pZ3 packing tape: https://amzn.to/3VzgAJV And a tube or dowel to make the wrapper you will pour the molten wax in. Basically, you need pigments, drying oil, and wax to make the sticks hold their shape. It's simple and there are many ways to get there. You can use beeswax, crayons, oil pastels ort a combination for wax (pastels and a crayon plus oil paint is my preference) but you can tweak your recipe to get what you like.
