This is a review of the brand new Hornby Class 56 that is numbered as 56094 in the Colas Rail livery that is a 2015 release. Also this is the first sound fitted Class 56 Diesel Locomotive that I have owned and I am impressed with the performance and the sounds of this model. I have nothing negative at all to say really as the locomotive hauled the test train with ease and also this model locomotive comes in the new style "slip" case box and the blister pack. I am no longer going to use the ice cube packaging word as it is not the correct term for this packaging and I want to keep my reviews serious but still have a bit of fun in the process :). The model comes with a selection of detail parts but on this model the brake pipes are not painted which is odd for this model as the past models I have owned of the Hornby Class 56's have all came with painted brake pipes ready to fit onto the buffer beam. Well its not a deal breaker to me as I have plenty of spares that are painted. I have painted the buffers into flat black using Tamiya paint to remove the unrealistic metal finish. The model has a heavy metal chassis, all wheel drive and fully working directional lights as well as opening cab doors (the latter is a gimmick as its not a feature I use). The Colas Rail Freight livery looks superb on this locomotive and it reminds me of the old Loadhaul livery to some extent in some ways. I would recommend this locomotive to all UK modern image railway modellers that use OO gauge and the prices can vary so shop around. Overall Rating: 10/10.
