On the Hummer, the body control module is often damaged by a fouled drainage tube for the sunroof redirecting water to the passenger side footwell where the BCM is mounted. This water damage corrupts the BCM and one way to solve this is to replace the BCM with a used unit. I discovered, upon buying my Hummer, that the BCM had been replaced with a used one. This causes the odometer to freeze at an inaccurate and unchanging value. To solve this, I have obtained the actual odometer reading from the speedo head data chip and I am going to program that into the BCM. The first step, though, is the one covered in this video where I zero the mileage in the speedo chip. Upon vehicle startup, the speedo chip will query the BCM chip for a mileage and display the value programmed therein. This video covers the zeroing process using the CH3241-A programmer hardware and the Neoprogrammer software. To use the programmer, some hot-wiring of the chip is required and shown. This is not shown in any other video I could find on YouTube. All other videos use professional programmers available at high cost to mechanics or focus on other vehicles and their odometer issues.
