Super Alloy 1 contains cadmium. A tail light bezel has a large crack that eventually busted off the part and was now in two pieces. Most people would say it was unrepairable but we knew better. Super Alloy 1 rod and flux will make the repair at half the melting point of pot metal or zinc die-cast. Since the owner of the part, Paul, was not going to re-chrome the part there was no need to strip it before soldering. We used a die grinder to remove the chrome, nickel, and copper plating down to the bare pot metal. The part was broken in two pieces so it was necessary to repair both sides -- which wouldn't be possible without using a heat absorption paste, in this demonstration Heat Freeze Heat Paste (formerly Cool Blue). Heat Freeze will save your previous repairs from remelt and wasted time and solder. Paul was successful on his first time like most users of Super Alloy 1 rod and flux. Clean the flux off of the rod before placing it back into the PVC tube. #BrokenPotMetalRepair #FixPotMetal #PotMetalPartsRepair #BezelRepair #TailLightRepair 🔔 If you found this video helpful, subscribe for more practical metal repair tutorials.
