Cramond Island

Cramond Island is a tidal island in the Firth of Forth reached at low tide by a causeway which extends for just over ¾ of a mile into the river from the village of Cramond. The uninhabited island has many remains of fortifications from both WW1 and WW2, including the concrete pillars beside the causeway. (The zoom of another island is Inchmickery which was heavily fortified.) There is a four hour window at low tide when it is possible to walk out to the island. (And back before the tide covers causeway!) Cramond is now a suburb of Edinburgh and is situated at the mouth of the River Almond where it runs into the Firth of Forth.
