Born Again - Part One - A Understanding the Kingdom of God often reshapes how we read the Bible and see God, sometimes unsettling long-held beliefs before bringing greater clarity. As we examine the subject of being “Born Again,” it is essential to search the Scriptures carefully, like the Bereans, especially since the modern understanding of the phrase may differ from its original biblical meaning—a concern even noted by G. W. Armstrong decades ago. Today, many believe a person is “born again” when they confess Jesus as Lord (Rom. 10:9–10) and receive the Holy Spirit, often treating “born again,” “saved,” and “new birth” as interchangeable terms and viewing this as a uniquely New Testament experience beginning at Pentecost. However, beginning with Jesus’ own words in John 3:3–7 shows that being “born again” is directly connected to entering the Kingdom of God. Jesus expected Nicodemus, a teacher of Israel (John 3:9–10), to understand this concept from the Old Testament, implying it was not a new idea. Since Jesus declared that Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and the prophets would be in the Kingdom (Luke 13:28; Matt. 8:11), they too must be “born again,” demonstrating that this truth extends beyond the New Testament era. Scripture consistently links entrance into the Kingdom with the resurrection of the just (Acts 24:15; John 5:28–29; Dan. 12:2; Luke 14:13–15). Old Testament believers—Job (Job 19:25–27), David (Psalm 17:15), Daniel (Dan. 12:13), Abraham (John 8:56), and others—looked forward in faith to this resurrection hope. Therefore, being “Born Again” ultimately refers to the resurrection of the just at Christ’s return, when the dead are raised and the living changed. Just as physical birth follows conception, believers are presently conceived by faith and given the Spirit as a pledge, awaiting their full birth in the resurrection. Entrance into the Kingdom, eternal life, salvation, and being Born Again all converge in this future resurrection reality. Notes: https://shepherds-delight-734.blogspo...
