#pakistan #India #afghanistan #asimmunir Tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan have flared again, just hours after a much-touted ceasefire was declared to aid peace talks in Doha. The fragile truce collapsed when Afghanistan accused Pakistan of launching airstrikes in its southeastern province — attacks that reportedly killed ten people, including three local cricketers. In retaliation, Afghanistan’s Cricket Board withdrew from a tri-nation series involving Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The renewed hostility highlights the growing mistrust between Islamabad and Kabul. Pakistan alleges that the Taliban regime is harbouring militants who target Pakistani soil — a charge Afghanistan firmly denies. Adding fuel to the fire, Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has called for Afghan refugees to “return home” while accusing Kabul of acting as a “proxy for India.” Amid this regional turmoil, Donald Trump has injected himself into the conversation, claiming the Pakistan–Afghanistan conflict would be “easy” for him to resolve — dubbing it his potential “number nine” peace deal. But on the ground, both nations are trading accusations and threats, leaving the ceasefire shattered and South Asia’s security balance once again on edge. Tune in as Barkha Dutt speaks to Sushant Sareen, Senior Fellow, ORF.
