This is because it make your approach shots easier than hitting from trees, water or out of bounds. In other words, the game is easier from the middle of the fairway. Hitting your driver longer is also important too but long and in trouble is not as good as long and straight. So keep this in mind when you are working on these 3 driver tips. if you try for distance but lose the straight part of it then slow down a little to keep you ball in the fairway. If you keep trying to get hit it straight but are lacking distance then after you keep hitting more fairways and get more confidence then gradually increase you distance.
