Paramotoring to Brukkaros Mountain - Spectacular Natural Beauty!

At 1 am on 13 November 2021, my friend Hennie and I set out from Windhoek on a 460 km journey to Brukkaros Mountain, near Keetmanshoop, eager to finally see this mysterious crater up close. By 6:00 am, we were airborne, circling the mountain and taking in its dramatic beauty from above. The flight, lasting about an hour, offered a breathtaking perspective of the collapsed caldera towering 650 metres above the surrounding semi-desert. The crater, with a ring diameter of 4 km, is located just 15 km from the Nama town of Berseba and 100 km from Keetmanshoop. The Nama people call it Geitsi Gubib, named after the traditional Khoikhoi loincloth, later rendered as Brukkaros in German. After circling this incredible natural wonder, we returned to the Berseba airstrip and then drove back to Windhoek—a ten-hour round trip for just one hour of flying, but absolutely worth it!
