Banker Madness: A Show That Will Leave You Speechless The new web series Banker Madness have recently rocked Vimeo with its uncanny plot and a sincere, yet mind-twisting story. It’s a tragedy of a modern-day society combined with the comedy of our everyday lives, sprinkled with a mixture of irony and satire, all wrapped together in a vaguely grotesque but believable plot. It’s quite easy to imagine a world where marijuana has become legal. But how does it affect the economy of the country and the whole banking infrastructure? With drug dealers, weed growers and pot sellers coming out of the shadows, changes are inevitable, but we can only guess whether they will be good or bad. The main storyline revolves around a family of bankers and two twin brothers who seem to hate each other’s guts. They fight each other like crazy, coming up with pranks that end up influencing the whole city. One brother, Rob, represents the whole banking society and stands for what he believes is “right”, which includes order, business, seriousness and a whole bunch of various meds, pills and other drugs that help him survive through the day with all its stress and pressure. The other brother, Bob, stands for everything Rob hates in people – he’s laid-back, he thinks relationships with people is far more important than power of any kind, and what’s even worse – he smokes weed and enjoys it greatly. Their father is out of the picture for most of the time, mother is present, but does nothing to settle their rivalry. As the conflict between two brothers grows and things start getting serious when the idea to form weed seller unions arises, more characters come into play, like Rob’s homicidal partner Mara, or Bob’s fortune-teller girlfriend. All in all Banker Madness presents us with wonderfully written witty clichés that are both very sad and very funny at the same time. It’s a show that will make you laugh, frown, and then think about the problems and questions that are being asked in it. A fair share of psychedelic elements makes it even more fun to watch. Directed by a freelance producer Rick Kariolic, the production of the show involved majority of volunteers, among which were the actors themselves, cameramen, video and sound engineers. Creating a no-budget show required a lot of time, effort, thinking everything through and inspiration from the whole crew, but the end result was really worth it. With the help of assistant director David Terra, who managed all the schedules brilliantly, sound engineer Baros Kaynak, who did the majority of the sound on set, and co-star Tony Alston, who volunteered to help with one of the main roles, Rick Kariolic managed to create a show that’s both funny, witty and memorable, while playing two leading roles at the same time and directing the whole thing on the go.
