I spent another week travelling around Hokkaido, exploring the countryside, flower fields, mountains, and waterfalls! I took the train from Sapporo to Asahikawa where I stayed for a week as my base to explore the more rural side of Hokkaido. I travelled to Biei to see the famous Blue Pond, then through the forest to a waterfall, views of mountains and an active volcano! On my third day, we took the train to Ueno Farm, a peaceful flower farm close to Asahikawa. It really felt like a scene from a Ghibli movie, full with beautiful flowers, trees, fields and gardens. On the fourth day, I wandered around the more central areas of Asahikawa, visiting shrines, gardens, and eating lots of delicious food. For the last day, I went to the Asahikawa City Museum to learn all about the indigenous Ainu people of Hokkaido and then headed back to Sapporo.
