The holidays can be a stressful time for many people, but it's especially hard on those that are mentally ill. MORE ON ADDING POSITIVE EXPERIENCES: The holiday season isn't just stressful at gatherings and get togethers. It's also stressful when one is going around town or browsing online. I mentioned in the video that I had more to say on the topic of dealing with those times, so here we go! Accumulating positive experiences, in my opinion, is vital to survival. It's what keeps me from the ledge and helps me live a happy life. The core idea of it is to do things that you know will make you happy, like hanging with friends or eating good food. Over time, those experiences add up, and you'll look back and go, "dang, I have a life worth living!" AND YOU DO! But in the holidays those experiences can look like shopping for the ones that mean something to you. It can mean baking cookies or other treats that you only get once a year. It can be making wishlists or going to a light festival. Even if you hate the holidays, you can still have some fun that will help you through it. Spread things out, take it slow, and you'll be fine. And remember, you're strong enough, I promise.
