Tumescent subcision is a minimally invasive surgical technique used primarily to treat depressed scars, such as those caused by acne or trauma. It involves the injection of a large volume of diluted local anesthetic solution (tumescent solution) into the area to be treated. This solution helps to numb the area and also expands the tissue, making it easier to perform the procedure. Once the area is sufficiently numb and swollen from the tumescent solution, a small needle or cannula is inserted under the skin to break up fibrous bands or adhesions that are causing the depression in the skin. By releasing these fibrous bands, the skin can then re-adhere in a smoother, more even manner. Tumescent subcision is often combined with other treatments such as laser therapy or dermal fillers to further improve the appearance of scars. It is considered to be relatively safe and effective, with minimal downtime compared to more invasive surgical procedures. However, as with any medical procedure, there are risks involved, so it's important to consult with a qualified healthcare provider to determine if tumescent subcision is appropriate for you.
