Queensland Rail Electric Tilt Train Business Class Experience

Hello everyone. On March 27th 2016, I went on Queensland Rail’s Electric Tilt Train in Business class on the 8 hour journey to Rockhampton in Central Queensland, from Brisbane’s Roma Street Station. It was a comfortable ride in business class. Unlike economy, Business class offers more comfortable seats with more space, a 2-1 configuration as opposed to 2-2 In economy, power points, complimentary Orange Juice upon boarding as well as newspapers on offer as you board. The Meal I purchased onboard, the Lamb Stew with mashed potato and seasonal vegetables was very nice, the staff were warm and the views of the beautiful Queensland countryside were great. The Train is one of the fastest trains in Australia and got up to 160km/hr on this particular journey and “The City Of Rockhampton” train was used for that day’s trip, as well as on my return economy class journey back down to Brisbane the next morning. At the time of travel, there was a reduction in Electric Tilt Train services due to maintance and I was lucky to get an Electric Tilt Train both going there and gong home. Interesting Fact: The Tilt Train is called a “Tilt” Train as it has the ability to tilt 5 degrees in each direction, which allows passengers a more comfortable ride when turning around corners at high speeds.
