Cyclone Mal! 130km winds, Stuck and nowhere to go!!

Went to Plantation Island Resort in Fiji for a wedding. Hanging in a resort is definitely not our type of holiday, but just like our usual trips, we found ourselves stranded, with a Category 3 Tropical Cyclone coming our way. Got the chance to get amongst the locals and put in some hard work to clean up the island. We had safety briefings which continually updated us on the progress, Tropical Cyclone Mal progressed from category 1, to 2 and finally to 3. It picked up speed and hit 12 hours before estimated and brought risk of surges and high tides. All boats and a number of flights were cancelled, and we had no choice but to stay and wait for it to roll in.
