Singing in Chylandyk is the "maha bandha" of vocal yoga. It engages all three energy zones. Contrary to popular western belief, the "7 chakras" system is NOT traditional, but is based upon the installation of 5 elements into the energy field, with a sort of distillation of them entering the 6th and 7th positions. -In other words, it is meant to be a form of treatment rather than an anatomy of your energy body... More on that when my book goes to print... Ezingileer is a rhythmic pulsing that, I feel, brings this already primal art form into the realm of the truly shamanic. We engage the lower energy field (root and sacral chakras for the 7 chakra folks) by engaging the core to sing the fundamental or "Xhoreketeer" voice. We engage the central energy field (solar plexus and heart chakras) when we resonate from the chest, which also activates the vagus nerve. We engage the upper energy field (throat, third eye, crown) as we produce the higher overtones with chylandyk... then we bring it all into rhythm with ezingileer, connecting with our heartbeat, and the heartbeat of the earth... Thus do we shift ourselves into the sonic landscape, and merge with the ALL, the Source, and bring our consciousness closer to Samadhi (enlightenment, ultimate awareness)
