[The video fades in with ASL Blend logo. There are four swishy swipes between the word "ASL" and "Blend." They are colored blue, green, pink, and orange. The word, "Presents" fades in. It reads: "ASL Blend presents." A new slide appears with the title: "Hearing Awareness Training." Then the we fade into a video clip. There is a female sitting against a blue wall. She speaks: "Hi!I'm Pam Wellumson. I'm a hearing interprter for 34 years. Whew, I have seen multiple conflicts between the deaf and hearing people in their workplace. In 1989, I established a deaf awareness training. The purpose was to teach the hearing how to communicate better with the deaf. They have benefitted from the education. Many of the supervisors thought those classes were great! That was really nice! Later on, it was brought to our attention that there are no hearing awareness trainings for the deaf to learn the ways of the hearing people. We realized that it is a valid point. Now, we are establishing a class for the deaf called Hearing Awareness Training. This January 16th, we will have a class for you! Have you ever wondered why a deaf person might hold a job for many years and a hearing person might join in later on, only to be promoted to a supervising position after merely two years? All the while this deaf person might have worked the same job for years? This kind of things happen. We will explain to you why this situation happened. What may have caused this to happen. Or suppose you want to improve your interviewing skills? Come to our class! Or perhpaps you're feeling stressed out with your job, worried that you will get fired anytime soon? Come to our class and I'll help you by providing optoions of communication strategies to improve your situation. On January 16th, from 8:30 AM to 4pm, we will have a fun class!
