Lawsuits, accusations and resignations have kept the drug out of patients' hands. The potential for setbacks remains high, and even then it will be months before the first dose gets prescribed. Nebraska sits between two states with recreational and medical cannabis, and some lawmakers fear the drug will do more harm than good. Pressure from the state's highest offices has kept the drug at bay, for now. But times are changing, and the people resoundingly said they were ready for the legalization of medical cannabis. In 'The Will of the People,' 10/11 tells the story of medical cannabis in Nebraska. The fight for legalization, the apprehension behind it, and the people in need of relief. We also explore medical cannabis through the eyes of a Nebraska pharmacologist and a Colorado economist. We'll take viewers to Rockport, Missouri, where you can buy legal marijuana just a few minutes from Nebraska's border. Viewers will also meet one Nebraska child suffering from extreme epilepsy, Teddy Bronson. Fighting epilepsy with legal cannabinoids and specialized surgery, Teddy's parents hope to use medical cannabis to buy more time with their son. And we'll explain what's next in implementation as a commission made to regulate the drug drags its heels.
