(BMM115) Angoisse Magazine - Les Sirènes du Canal de l'Ourcq Out now: https://bmm.ffm.to/lessirenesducanald... Freshly back from their US tour, Angoisse Magazine present their third EP, 'Les Sirènes du Canal de l'Ourc'. Created in 2016 by Aurélien Fradagrada, Marius Atherton and Danny Kendrick during jam sessions in an apartment in the Belleville district of Paris, the project welcomed violist Narimane Baba Aissa in 2021. Their first two EPs released in 2020 and 2023 laid the foundations for their textured, minimalist music, with its unsettling layers of sticky textures, botched samples, dry and precise rhythmic flows, and melodies that melt into space. Inspired by krautrock and film soundtracks, the band cites Serge Gainsbourg’s Melody Nelson, Beak, Silver Apples, and Atsuko Hatano as major influences. Incorporating vocals for the first time, this new EP chants a haunting rock from which hushed grooves and fragile outbreaks escape. On the first listen, we've felt a strange state of enjoyable tension, deep melancholy and enchanting bitterness, that we believe very few bands can induce with their music.
